HOW TO BE A MEDIA LITERATE?

Answer: Just  simply study media and you'll become a literate in media.

Then, What is Media ?

Media- is the collective communication outlets or tools that are used to store and deliver information or data.[1][2] It is either associated with communication media, or the specialized mass media communication businesses such as: print media and the press, photography, advertising, cinema, broadcasting (radio and television) and publishing.[3]

What are the types of Media?

I.  Print Media

The print media is composed of newspapers, community newsletters, wire services, magazines, and other publications. Within these publications, there are two main divisions of labor: reporting and editing. Reporters are the newspaper writers who investigate newsworthy events and interesting stories. Editors assign stories to reporters, edit story content, and decide which stories to print.


II. Broadcast Media



The broadcast media can be defined as media that distribute audio and video content, hence, radios and televisions.




III.  New Media


New media are those information and entertainment providers accesses via Internet or through mobile communication such as online newspapers, independent and alternative online news sources, informal websites, and blogs. The so called new media are fast becoming the media of choice.



IV.  Film


The oldest form of motion picture technology, has been a popular entertainment medium capable of capturing lifelike video-style images. Films, also called motion picture and cinema, have a goal of unfolding a story, maybe a fiction or a true-to-life-story.



Why are we learning these types of media?

Answer: Because these are parts of media and are essential for becoming a media literate.

What is media literacy? 

Media literacy is the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, and create mediaMedia literate youth and adults are better able to understand the complex messages we receive from television, radio, Internet, newspapers, magazines, books, billboards, video games, music, and all other forms of media.


Why do we need to be a literate in media and information?


                We need to be literate in media and information for us to know the positives and negatives of media and to identify if the information is reliable or not. To be a literate in media means we can access, evaluate, and create messages in a wide variety of media modes. It is necessary to be literate in media and information for us to be free from scams, and won’t be deceive by someone particularly, in advertisements and promos of an unknown product.
                 There are benefits for being literate in media and information. Such as, it can develop our critical thinking skills, we can understand how media messages shape our culture and society, and we can recognize the bias, spin, misfortune, and lies about the information. Being a literate in any aspects will always bear good results for it will enhance your knowledge and experience. Because we are now in the age where the technologies and devices are developing, we must now become a literate in media and information because not only the technologies are developing but also the knowledge of the people. People in our society are now full of schemes those who lacks knowledge will become their prey so we must bear in mind that “Knowledge is Power.”
